Job summary:

During the internship for the role of Carbon Technical Specialist for Sustainable Technology (ST) Project Development, you will support the technical team in the timely and effective generation and delivery of emission reductions, as well as the management of several full project cycles globally. Reporting directly to the Technical Team ST Africa, you will support other project offices in global project development and other sustainable technology related topics.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Supporting the supervision of all technical aspects of carbon offset projects, various registries and emission processes.

  • Support in overseeing the technical sections of carbon project feasibility studies, project documents and monitoring reports.

  • Provide technical and business development support for project procurement.

  • Follow up with the internal procedures in our internal project management tool regarding all signed ERPAs

  • Support in scheduling technical reviews and quality controls.

  • Draft invoices to be approved by the supervisor and sent to accounting for submission to clients

  • Managing project owners' accounts in our internal project management tool

  • Update proposal/project information in project management tool and ensure all relevant documents are accessible on the drive at any time

  • Keep general information, milestones and cash flow in the project management software up to date

  • Support the technical team in project data analysis.

Requirements:

Essential -

  • High interest in project development in the African context in the field of Sustainable Technologies (Renewable Energy, Efficient Cookstoves, Safe Water Supply, etc).

  • Proven team player, able to work effectively across cultures and within and across organizations.

  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to build on existing knowledge to develop new approaches.

  • Undergraduate/Bachelors/Masters in any of the following fields: Sustainable Technologies, Engineering, Carbon Methodology, Market research, Monitoring and Evaluation, Project Management, Data and Analytics, Sustainable Development, Tropical Rural Development and related fields.

  • Ability to work on assignments that are diverse in nature, applying company policies, processes and procedures to resolve a variety of issues/problems.

  • The capacity to solve relatively complex project-related problems independently, and receive general direction on new assignments or projects

  • Have excellent communication skills, especially verbal and written skills in English and French

  • Ability to create high quality written documents (proposals and deliverables) in English

  • Ability to manage targets and priorities and develop own goals

Desirable - 

  • Good statistical skills

  • Ability to work with different stakeholders in different contexts.
