Job Description
The methods expert will lead and train local colleagues in Problem Solving (PS) and FMEA methodology. They will establish regional and global networks to track and assess opportunities to utilize Problem Solving Systematic (PSS) and FMEA. They will track each methods efficiency and success audits and assessments. With a high focus on customer requirements and expectations, the methods expert will provide value added quality support and continuous improvement to current processes. The expert is expected to build a network locally and globally to share lessons learned and best practices.
- Drive the continuous improvement process across the region for critical problems (technical and non-technical)
- Perform and coordinate regular assessments (PSS, PS Projects, 8D & PS Sheets, FMEA)
- Develop qualification requirements and coordinate personal development of PSS (PS, Sigma, Shainin) and FMEA
- Develop a PS Project Matrix (major problems and projects) for each location and monitor on a regular basis
- Establish an active local and global PSS and FMEA Network
- Provide regional documentation for PS and FMEA methodology to ensure consistency across all locations
- Coordinate regular FMEA reviews across the region
- Assure an active Technical Risk Reduction (FMEA; RPN) program
- Establish best practices for PS and FMEA methodology and lessons learned (Feber database, FMEA, roll across)
- Involvement on Serious complaint projects as needed
- Include “Process Basics Introduction” and leading process walks (Go to Gemba)
- Determine reporting requirements from customer and DC
- Review contracts for PS and FMEA agreements with customers
- Develop, drive, and maintain year after year cost savings and revenue generation based upon methodology and improvements
- Monitor, maintain, communicate, and assist in improvement of key business metrics to assure continued growth and competitiveness; pro-actively drive a learning and improvement culture
- Perform other essential and related peripheral duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree* in technical engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, etc) and 5 years of using PSS and FMEA methods OR Associate's Degree in the technical field(Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, etc) and 8 years experience with PSS and FMEA methods, OR HS diploma and 12 years of experience with PSS and FMEA methods.
- Knowledge of Quality Methods required with the ability to drive root cause of specific concerns using analytical problem solving techniques such as 8D-method, Shainin, Six Sigma as well as quality tools
