Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Vice President, Corporate Accounting supervises a subset of the corporate accounting team and is an important part of corporate accounting leadership. This position helps ensure accounting team members meet their deadlines and goals. The VP, Corporate Accounting also helps develop the knowledge and skills of team members. Additionally, the role assists the SVP of Corporate Accounting with various tasks and ad-hoc requests throughout the month. Accounting leaders who are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and help will do well in this role. This position works a hybrid schedule (in office, and remote).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for supervision, guidance, and mentorship of 3-4 employees.
• Assist with review of monthly reports from accountants for accuracy and compliance with accounting principles/policies.
• Assist with the rollout of new policies and initiatives to the team.
• Research accounting issues, identify possible solutions, and summarize conclusions to present to management.
• Assist with onboarding of new markets and other operating entities.
• Complete various Ad Hoc reporting or analysis requests and assist with special projects as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
• Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus
• CPA license is a plus
• Full-cycle accounting experience
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant accounting experience
• Experience managing a small team of accountants
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP
• Exemplary written and verbal communication skills; Ability to communicate with executives and internal/external customers
• High attention to detail and ability to work with a large amount of financial data
• Able to exhibit high level of confidentiality
• Commercial real estate industry experience is a plus
• Yardi accounting software is a plus; Proficiency in MS Excel required
• A positive, proactive attitude
• Desire to work in a cooperative, productive teamwork environment and willingness to share information with co-workers as appropriate
