JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State Abington Division of Student Affairs seeks a dynamic and energetic individual, who is committed to advancing and fostering an inclusive educational community and high impact experiences. The graduate intern for Student Affairs is an on-site opening, responsible for supporting the director of Residence Life and Community Standards with projects related to student conduct case management, Residence Life, student programming, and campus and community training and outreach.

Job Duties

Graduate intern responsibilities include:

  • Case management (adjudicating code of conduct violations, and updating educational records).
  • Assisting with Residence Life operations, including Living Learning Communities (LLC).
  • Assisting with the training and advising.
  • Attending Division and department orientations and trainings.
  • Attending weekly staff and supervisory meetings.
  • Maintaining regular office hours.
  • Assisting with coordinating and facilitating educational outreach programs and initiatives (e.g., facilitating presentations, developing educational materials).
  • Other projects as assigned.

The successful candidate must be enrolled in a graduate program, preferably with a focus in Higher Education or Counselor Education. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. They will also demonstrate a desire to work in a fast-paced environment as a part of a student-focused team that promotes and cultivates an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive to students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in a graduate program, preferably in Higher Education Master’s Degree with an emphasis on Student Affairs, or Counselor Education.
  • Effective listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced challenging work environment.
  • Must be an eager learner with a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to manage and respect sensitive and confidential information.
