What You'll Do
About This Role:
The BIM/VDC Field Technology Lead will partner with the BIM / VDC Team members and Field Support Staff to facilitate the use of construction technology tools to ensure accuracy between the BIM model and the built environment. The use of field technologies will include, but is not limited to; Robotic Total Stations (RTS, RPT, GNSS), infrared/lidar scanners, drones, 360° Cameras, Mixed Reality (MR) solutions, amongst others. While not in the field, the BIM/VDC Field Technology Lead will assist with BIM model generation/coordination using Revit and Navisworks, manage field technology equipment and facilitate training on the equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Field QA/QC and Layout - Conduct Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) inspections to verify installation accuracy, adherence to project specifications, compliance with contract documents, and alignment with local and national code requirements. Provide clear and actionable direction to field support teams to ensure installations align with pre-planned designs and schedules. Perform layout and survey tasks in the field by utilizing advanced Robotic Total Station technology to ensure precision and alignment with project plans.
BIM/VDC Modeling and Coordination - Enhance Building Information Modeling (BIM) by incorporating detailed electrical content, ensuring models are comprehensive and precise. Actively participate as a key member of the Integrated Mechanical and Electrical (IME) BIM team, attending coordination meetings and contributing to collaborative project solutions. Collaborate effectively with representatives from other trades to identify and resolve clashes and conflicts uncovered during coordination sessions, promoting seamless project integration.
Operation of Field Technologies - Employ cutting-edge field technologies on construction sites, including Robotic Total Stations, Mixed Reality (MR) solutions, infrared and lidar scanners, and 360° cameras, to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and project documentation.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of construction practices, electrical systems, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Strong ability to complete due diligence and risk assessment
- Impeccable integrity and ethics with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated accomplishments in the following areas:
- Proficiency with Robotic Total Stations and advanced field technology applications
- Proven expertise in QA/QC processes, BIM modeling, and field layout technologies and programs including Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Trimble Field Points, AutoCAD and Office 365.
- Experience with advanced software tools for BIM and field layout.
- Field experience with the following: 3D Scanning and Total Station Layout.
