Senior Manager, Alliance Development

ROLE SUMMARY:
Alliance Development Manager (ADM) is a member of the US Policy and Government Relations team responsible for a multi-state region, reporting to the Alliance Development Director. Alliance Development is responsible for the creation and execution of an integrated advocacy strategy. This role collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders including patient, provider, and business organizations to advance Pfizer’s preferred legislative and business priorities.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and lead strategic state advocacy plans to advance Pfizer’s enterprise policy agenda at the state, federal and global levels.
Manage relationships with C-Suite executives within business organizations, medical societies and state and national advocacy organizations.
Cultivate external relationships with KOLs, patient advocacy organizations, medical societies, multicultural organizations, and business groups including trade associations, think tanks and other policy influencers in support of Pfizer preferred policies.
Influence the progression of legislative and regulatory policy initiatives in alignment with Government Relations, Activation and Policy Directors.
Build and activate state-based patient advocacy coalitions across all therapeutic areas to advance policy priorities.
Educate and engage external stakeholders at the state and national level to advance Pfizer preferred policies and legislative priorities.
Engage advocates on complex legislative issues around access, affordability, and pro innovation policies.
Plan and execute advocacy summits, policy forums and programs in collaboration with external partners supporting business unit priorities across all therapeutic areas.
Represent Alliance Development as a strategic partner with Commercial, Medical, Corporate Affairs and other matrix teams.
Identify and create opportunities to engage senior leadership to advance Pfizer’s Purpose Blueprint.
Where applicable, manage advocacy needs of Pfizer research and manufacturing sites.
Plan and manage a budget while operating within established guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must Have:
Bachelors degree or equivalent.
7+ years of relevant pharmaceutical/biotech and/or health care policy experience.
Demonstrated leadership across peer groups.
Ability to interface successfully with senior executives.
Project management experience.
Strong strategy and execution skills.
Experience working with key thought leaders and diverse stakeholders.
Ability to develop and motivate others, lead through change, and deliver on Pfizer BU public affairs priorities.
Track record in motivating colleagues and peers and building strong internal relationships.
Outstanding oral and written communications skills.
Ability to communicate complex topics in a relatable narrative across a broad range of interested partners.
Ability to communicate complex topics into an understandable short narrative across a range of interested parties.
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
Nice-to-Have:
Master's degree or equivalent in public health, business or other strongly preferred
3+ years in a promoted position preferred or other relevant experience.
Ability to proactively partner across a complex matrixed organization.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Traveling 50% of the time within the US may be a requirement for an Alliance Development Manager
Geographical region: North Carolina, Maryland and Virginia
