Pay Range

$148,920 - $188,880 Annually for the TSS.3 level
$178,770 - $226,668 Annually for the TSS.4 level

Job Description

We have an opening for a Building Information Modeling (BIM) Lead.  As the BIM Lead, you will be instrumental in setting up, managing, and optimizing our use of Revit across all design disciplines. Your primary goal will be to enhance our BIM process, and increasing Revit use to improve project coordination, efficiency and quality. You will work closely with project teams, architects and engineers to implement best practices and drive the adoption of BIM technologies. This position is in the Project Management Office (PMO).

The Project Management Office (PMO) provides LLNL with engineering, design, estimating, construction, and project management services. PMO provides infrastructure services to enable cutting-edge research and development in the areas of defense technologies, global security, laser science, bioscience, and more. PMO offers cradle to grave infrastructure services to achieve reliable delivery of completed projects with priority on safety, collaboration, and a workforce working toward our shared vision.

This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period. The specifics of the hybrid schedule, including the exact number of days required in the office and virtual work options may vary based on the needs of the team and the organization.

You Will

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive BIM strategy that aligns with organizational goals and project requirements for designs prepared internally and externally by subcontracted A/E firms.
  • Revit Implementation: Implement, manage and set-up Revit templates, elements (families), components, details, standards, and workflows within the PMO.
  • Provide Team training and support to project teams on Revit and BIM best practices, ensuring effective use of the software and adherence to standards.
  • Acts as the BIM lead on multiple projects preparing models for multiple disciplines (e.g. architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical). Assist in project setup including the proper implementation of coordinates, linked information, and standards related framework including template and content use, graphic settings, etc.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in BIM technology & innovation to provide technical advice to keep CAD and Revit users up to date on new productivity techniques, provide mentorship, and recommend training.
  • Provide quality assurance reviews of project BIM deliverables at milestones or project close-out developed by in-house or A&E partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities at the TSS.4 level

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of the BIM transition strategy within PMO, by providing direction and leadership on the use of BIM.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture/engineering (structural, mechanical, or electrical) or Associate degree in Building Information Modeling or Computer Aided Drafting or equivalent combination of education and significant related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Building Information Modeling in Revit based on at least eight years of experience in architectural/engineering production work for buildings.
  • Coordination experience with other disciplines (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing).
  • Intermediate knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of construction documents for capital projects.
