Title: Field Support Engineer - Biometric Equipement
Location: Remote from Indiana with travel within the State
Must be authorized to work for any company in the US without Visa sponsorship or transfer.
We are currently seeking a Biometrics Field Support Engineer to join our passionate and dedicated team. You will be working from your home office and customer sites in Indiana, responding to service/support calls to provide installation and post installation support of NEC Biometrics Solutions, including Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems and Facial Recognition Systems.
You will assistance at customer sites in Indiana as well as remote support to other customers in the State of Indiana and surrounding states.
What you can expect in your role:
You will be responsible for system support to include first level software support, as well as hardware support. This person, and position, should be at a level that permits and requires the individual to take control and make necessary decisions to resolve routine situations with minimal impact to the Customer. In situations where critical system downtime may occur, with software or next level support not available at that point, the incumbent will be expected to act on self initiative to make necessary corrective action, if possible, or take appropriate action up the chain management. In this position you will provide installation and post installation support of NEC Corporation of America, (products) at customer locations in Indiana State Police and possibly other locations throughout North America. The FE level position is responsible for total system hardware and software support. As such, he/she will not only provide hands on technical assistance but also remote support to all users of the AFIS product. You will need to be capable of diagnosing and correcting difficult and intermittent hardware and software malfunctions arising from design deficiencies, data errors, component failures, and environmental issues. This requires a high degree of diagnostic ability and complete understanding of contemporary operating systems and AFIS applications.
What we are looking for:
Maintain high customer satisfaction through professional and ethical conduct with first class customer service and excellent business manner
- Ability to troubleshoot (locally and remotely), Windows and Linux based Servers, workstations and have partial hands on experience with the user applications.
- Knowledge of Linux OS and first level Oracle Data Base.
- Ability to analyze logs to make a determination as to cause of problems and to suggest effective problem solutions.
- Troubleshoot and install patches for a variety of AFIS applications.
- Provide direct oncall site support, as needed.
- Keep customers updated with providing timely and accurate services and information
You should also have the ability to learn quickly and resolve issues, work closely with and get along with our customers and the ability to provide ideas for improvement.
Ideally, you will a very outgoing personality and gain technically proficient once you have been trained on our systems. You should also have the ability to explain issues to the customers and assure them that their systems will be maintained.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $48,000 to $65,000 with a target annual 3% bonus; depending upon the selected candidate’s relevant experience, the exact salary for the role may fall outside of this range. This role will also be eligible to participate in the Company’s bonus/incentive program(s).
