Summary

A Security Systems Operator works in the Security Operations Center, monitors and assesses security and safety related alarms and incidents, receives incoming calls and provides the appropriate security response and/or action. Acts as the initial point of contact for Corporate Security. Assesses the status of security related equipment and actively manages employee, contractor and visitor access to APS sites through access management protocols. Responds as part of the security operations team to emergencies and security breaches. Protects Company assets and employees through the effective use and management of integrated web-based security and life safety systems in the Corporate Security Operation Center.

Minimum Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year prior experience in the areas of Customer Service, Security Services, or dispatch. Security systems, operations and/or control center experience preferred.
- Retention in position requires successful completion of the Corporate Security approved Security Systems Operator training program within 8 months of assignment.

Major Accountabilities

1) Follows prescribed security procedures and emergency plans in order to maintain security of corporate assets during assigned shifts.

2) Monitors a variety of life-safety, intrusion detection, access control and video monitoring systems.

3) Eliminates or minimizes potential security/safety problems by initiating responses to alarms or other security/safety alerts.

4) Serves as central point of contact for security matters during assigned shifts. Updates management and employees of the status of security situations by coordinating internal communications.

5) Documents and updates historical incident information through established reports/logs.

6) Develop a working knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and laws.

7) Utilize security systems to properly identify and gather information related to an incident or alert.

8) Supports the response to emergency/life-safety incidents and criminal, malicious or suspicious activity.

9) Dispatch law enforcement and/or security resources as directed by leader or more Sr, level security staff.
