The Program Director, under general direction, will assist the institute with supporting natural resource conservation policy, research, education, and extension efforts, including directs the administration of assigned programs, planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling program activities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership across a multi-disciplinary field team including natural resources, engineering and other appropriate members from across the university.
- Lead multi-disciplinary team of scientists and graduate students in development and implementation of landscape scale systems.
-Develops program strategic plans, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
-Provide leadership and input on development of materials related to permit acquisition in association with project partners.
-Ensures program objectives are met.
-Identifies and secures program funding and expansion resources.
-Evaluates program procedures and performance reports.
-Directs and supervises program staff.
-Develops, oversees, and approves program budgets.
-Analyzes program statistics for reporting, tracking progress, and making adjustments to programs. Maintains program activity records and provides monthly progress reports.
-Other duties as required.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field and ten (10) years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Ph.D. degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fifteen years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong public speaking, organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills.
- Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
- History of independent program management with minimal guidance.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Soft Funding Clause Included: Due to this position’s salary having all or a portion of it being funded by grants or contracts, the continuing salary and overall employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds in the future.
