JOB PURPOSE
The Critical Facilities Technician II is responsible for performing preventive and ongoing maintenance for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other infrastructure systems in mission-critical, high-risk, or high-reliability environments (e.g., server rooms, laboratories, and utilities infrastructure). This role ensures operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and maximum facility uptime within a medical device manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are the essential functions of this position. This position may be responsible for performing additional duties and tasks as needed and assigned.
Assist with daily operations of the facility by performing general maintenance duties such as furniture moves, electrical work, spot painting, cleaning and light construction.
Operate site equipment as needed, using hand and power tools; maintain documentation such as MEP diagrams, network diagrams, and space utilization records.
Observe, troubleshoot, and report repair needs for equipment, building systems, and infrastructure.
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions for equipment failures and recurring issues.
Perform maintenance activities in compliance with FDA QSR, ISO 13485, ISO 14644, and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all maintenance activities within CMMS and controlled documentation systems.
Coordinate with and oversee outside contractors performing building and equipment repairs.
Support and resolve employee-generated facility-related issues in a timely and professional manner.
Support site security operations, including badge access management.
Support environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance initiatives and programs.
Participate in internal and external audits; address and close findings related to facilities and equipment.
Respond rapidly to emergency situations that could impact facility operations; coordinate with cross-functional teams to restore safe and reliable conditions.
Serve as a key point of contact during off-hours or critical operational events.
Comply with all organizational policies and government regulations related to safety and facility operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position.
Education/Certifications:
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:
2+ years’ experience in medical device manufacturing
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Solid background in electrical systems, troubleshooting, and repair.
Familiarity with regulated environments (FDA, ISO standards) strongly preferred.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented team player with strong problem-solving skills.
Basic computer proficiency; experience with CMMS systems and AutoCAD MEP preferred.
Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings and technical documentation.
Familiarity with electrical measurement instruments and standard maintenance tools.

IFMA Facility Management Professional (FMP)
BOMA Facilities Management Administrator (FMA)
SMRP Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT or CMRP)
