The GU Center for Child & Human Development (Center) is dedicated to fostering a stronger society by promoting the wellbeing of ALL children, adults and families and creating more inclusive communities. We execute this mission through research, training & technical assistance, scholarship and thought leadership. The Center seeks to hire a Program Manager to support the launch of an Innovation Lab (Lab) to bring the work of the Center to a wide range of audiences working to make a big impact in the child and family development world.
The Program Manager will work closely with the Lab founders and leadership team to design and execute the strategies of the Lab to recruit and support startups and nonprofits that impact millions of families. They will report to the Center Administrator and work directly with Lab leadership and the leadership team of the Center. Under Lab leadership supervision, the Program Manager will interface with the Lab team, faculty, administrative staff, and partners across the country. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Program Management
Collaborate with the Lab founder to develop the infrastructure for program management, this would include researching and selecting appropriate program management tools.
Co-lead the development of the strategy and lead the execution of all Lab programs.
Select and manage, in collaboration with the Leadership team and Center team members, subject matter experts to provide specialized curriculum and support for Lab innovators.
Manage partners and consultants that help us execute the core functions of the program.
Create annual budgets in collaboration with Lab and Center leadership, approve expenditures, monitor budget reports and spending.
Develop scalable processes for the accelerator program to optimize remote founder work and activities.
Represent the Lab in relevant community and ecosystem events.
Oversee the management of all documents, data and organization of program content using technology (such as Notion, Airtable/Smartsheets, and Slack).
Program Dissemination
Serve as a leader in the community for all relevant business development activities in relevant convenings and ecosystem events.
Oversee the development of the Lab’s website and external content program.
Lead the vision and implementation of the Lab’s Science Fair Conference.
Plan and execute small and large scale virtual and in-person events and workshops.
Manage all aspects of events – development, coordination, budgeting, contracts, on site or technical execution and follow up.
Coordinate and manage program calendar and provide logistics management for mentors, partners, and founder.
Program and Business Development/Research
Under the direction of the Lab founder, execute ecosystem research and analysis to include best practices in the field.
Oversee and execute the business development efforts with Lab ecosystem partners and innovators.
Manage research partners who contribute to the program content and curriculum.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, 5+ years of experience in fast-paced project or program management focused position
5+ years in a business development type role from sourcing to executing partnership deals
Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams
Demonstrated interest in innovation be it through technology and startups or research and new program development
Experience in event planning and event logistics
Strong proficiency in online productivity and data management tools and applications
Comfortable with a variety of responsibilities, proactive, and able to jump in without being asked and a “no task is too small or too big” attitude
Ability to effectively prioritize, organize and collaborate, especially on multiple projects with competing priorities simultaneously
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong emotional intelligence, active listening sk
