Installs, maintains, and repairs environmental control equipment and food service equipment to ensure proper operation in university buildings and cooling towers.
This position requires successful completion of a pre-work physical to confirm the ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position. Must have a valid WI driver's license and be authorized to drive a university vehicle upon appointment. This position may occasionally be asked to work more than the normal shift (7 am to 3 pm, Monday - Friday) and after-hour call-ins. UW Oshkosh also requires the successful completion of a criminal background check and sexual harassment reference check for all incoming employees.

ResponsibilitiesMaintenance and Repair of Food Service Equipment:
- Inspect, repair and maintain a variety of kitchen equipment – gas ranges, steam cookers, dishwashers, small appliances (can openers, toasters), etc. with voltage from 24 to 480 volts.
- Inspect and maintain refrigerator systems – walk-in freezers, refrigerators and freezers, drinking water coolers, ice machines, liquid dispensers, pulper and garbage disposals for food waste disposal systems, etc.
Performance of Buildings and HVAC Maintenance:
- Monitors, tests, maintains, and repairs Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, related equipment, and controls according to established policies and procedures
- Receives, prioritizes, and responds to service requests according to established timelines and policies
- Identifies, prioritizes, troubleshoots, and escalates system problems, equipment malfunctions, and repair needs
- Performs scheduled preventative and routine maintenance and documents activity on equipment and systems to ensure optimal and safe operation
- Develops and schedules operational work plans for staff occasionally
• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform physical labor including properly lifting 25 lbs. consistently, up to 75 lbs. individually, and 80+ lbs. with assistance with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights above 30 feet in order to reach equipment as well as to bend, stoop, twist, and perform duties in confined spaces.
• Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges to complete job assignments.
• Work experience in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems used in office and institutional buildings and complexes. Thorough knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices related to building maintenance and HVAC systems.
• Work experience with the knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions related to mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from plans, blueprints, drawings, and sketches.

• EPA Type 1, II, III or Universal Certifications
• North American Technician Excellence (NATE) Certification
• OSHA 30 Hour
• Certified Electrical Safety Technician (CEST) Certification
• Completion of an accredited technical, vocational and/or apprenticeship program, or a minimum of 6 years work experience in building maintenance or building trades, such as plumbing, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration, welding and electrical work.
• 2 years’ experience working with a Direct Digital Control (DDC) software program.
