Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate, and the overall supervision of the Senior Programme Officer in IOM Washington, DC, the Project Associate will provide support to the US State Department funded “Fostering Economic Security through Enhanced Reintegration Support (ERS) for Victims of Trafficking” outside of the United States. 
ERS is a US Department of State, TIP Office-funded project launched in 2022 with the aim of providing comprehensive reintegration services to survivors of trafficking who desire to start their own business in Ghana and Nigeria. The project will provide to trafficking survivors’ comprehensive reintegration that contributes to the achievement of their economic self-sufficiency, social stability and psychosocial well-being as measured by the survivors themselves through monitoring feedback mechanisms such as surveys, interviews with beneficiaries and focus group discussions.
The Project Associate will be highly knowledgeable on counter-trafficking and case management and will coordinate closely with the Senior Project Associate, case managers outside the United States and other Country Offices as necessary.

  1. Assist in day-to-day implementation, particularly in matters related the logistical and administrative aspects of the project.  This may include:
  • Respond to general program inquiries from IOM Missions
  • Assist in compiling donor reports and data inquiries relating to the project;
  • Communicate with ERS case managers in Ghana and Nigeria regarding activities and in coordination with the Senior Project Associate, help organizing meetings and focus groups;
  • Assist caseworkers with the reintegration plans offered to the beneficiaries; 
  • In coordination with the Senior Project Associate, liaise with the Emergency Victim Assistance project to coordinate direct assistance to ERS beneficiaries;
  • Undertake TDY to support to Ghana and Nigeria in relation to ERS activities (as needed).
  • Demonstrate a solid ability to remain professional, impartial and unbiased during all interactions with beneficiaries and colleagues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all information by implementing control procedures in line with IOM’s Data Protection Principles and Code of Conduct, as well as any additional standards established by the donor. Alert supervisor of any non-compliance to SOPs or codes of conduct by staff members.

2. Liaise with relevant project focal points in implementing countries to support the case management and monitoring and evaluation efforts of the project. 

3. Support the Unit by attending relevant meetings, training, and conferences on trafficking and report back to the office on such events;

4. Undertake duty travel as requested.;

5. Perform other such duties, as may be assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma with five years of relevant working experience; or,
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Case Management, Social Services, Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant working experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent computer skills - Word, Excel and Internet
  • Experience in conducting interviews of vulnerable populations.
  • Experience working as a case worker with migrants for at least two years.

  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional background.
