CACI International IncAbout the role
The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking an experienced Senior Analog Design Engineer to join our photonics team. Join team CACI as we work with NASA and the DoD to create high-definition video communications for the International Space Station, help discover biohazards, support US intelligence, and other state-of-the-art real-world applications.
Responsibilities:
The role will involve designing cutting-edge photonic and electronic systems, with a focus on integrating optical and electrical components for space and other advanced applications.
- Design and develop high-performance analog circuits, including DC-10GHz ADC and DAC circuits, with interfaces to advanced FPGAs.
- Conduct thorough analysis and simulation of analog circuits throughout the design process to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Drive the integration of opto-electronic devices such as lasers, variable optical attenuators (VOAs), and PIN diodes into electrical designs.
- Create detailed schematics for circuit designs, including component selection and management, with a focus on space-grade and high-reliability parts.
- Work with PCB layout and fabrication vendors to ensure that board designs meet stringent performance and quality requirements for high-reliability applications.
- Collaborate with digital and optical hardware teams to integrate electronic designs with photonic components, ensuring seamless system operation.
- Design and implement control loops and switching power supplies for photonic systems.
- Support the development of IPC Class III PCB designs and oversee assembly processes.
- Continuously improve design methodologies and stay current with advancements in photonics and electronics technologies.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years or demonstrated expertise in analog circuit design, preferably in aerospace or other high-reliability industries.
- Experience with trans-impedance and operational amplifiers.
- Experience with digitizers (ADC and DAC) front ends.
- Expertise in circuit analysis and simulation using industry-standard tools.
- Strong knowledge of high-speed digital and analog circuit design principles.
- Understanding of control loop design and switching power supply principles.
- Proficiency in schematic capture software and analog simulation tools such as SPICE or LT SPICE
Desired:
- Experience with space-qualified electronics design and testing.
- Familiarity with opto-electronic device integration, including lasers, VOAs, and PIN diodes.
- Familiarity with photonics principles and optical communication systems and radiation-hardening techniques for electronic components.
- Experience with thermal management in high-power density designs.
- Experience with IPC Class III PCB design and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of EEE-INST-002 and associated derating practices for space applications.
