Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician at TransMedics is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role supports production by performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and minimizing equipment downtime. The technician collaborates with engineering and operations teams to improve equipment performance and reliability. Responsibilities include documenting maintenance activities, following safety and regulatory requirements, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Operate Pleater, Hot Plate Welder, and other ultrasonic welding equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and preventative maintenance tasks on cleanroom machines/equipment when needed
  • Assemble tubing and connectors to complete assembly of Leukocyte Filters
  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and calibration activities for equipment used in various work stations across the site 
  • Maintain PM, calibration, and other equipment records and logs following GDP and cGMP requirements
  • Able to follow Manufacturing Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures to perform tasks on hand
  • Provide support to manufacturing areas to troubleshoot equipment failures, performing minor repairs if needed
  • Writing reports and work orders, report equiment breakdowns and other production-impacting deficiencies in a timely manner to supervisor
  • Assist engineers to install new systems, equipment, and software; Perform troubleshooting activies after installation as needed
  • Keeps machines and equipment in working order by performing routine checks and repairs to prevent mechanical failure
  • Optimize production efficiency by adjusting equipment settings as needed
  • Able to process inventory, maintain spares list, identify and order spares as needed
  • Perform assigned product manufacturing and assembly tasks as needed
  • Train production staff on maintenance requirements and proper usage of installed systems and equipment
  • Perform other TransMedics tasks and duties as assigned

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITES:

  • This position does not have management responsibilities.

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES:

  • Office environment
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 4 years of manufacturing experience or completion of a vocational technology certification program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical assembly diagrams and mechanical drawings, and utilize engineering software and equipment is preferred
  • Working knowledge of computers and office software
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
  • Keen attention to detail and problem-solving techniques
  • Must posses a strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Prior experience working as a preventive maintenance and calibration technician in a medical device manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Cleanroom experience in a high-tech assembly environment or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards for FDA/ISO regulated medical device environment is preferred.
