The Waiver Medical Records Clerk is responsible for entering billings into the system to generate reimbursement from Medicaid or the State Contract. This position is responsible for maintaining electronic charts by uploading required paperwork into the State EHR system (MWMA). These duties are performed in our Owensboro and Henderson locations. This position does not supervise any employees.
Essential Functions:
- Performs a detailed record review on MWMA monthly from each caseload. Information on record review is shared with Senior Director and assigned CM.
- Will consult with CM on all deficiencies not submitted within two weeks of the record review being completed. Will continue to follow up until all areas of deficiency are completed and inform Senior Director of any issues with receiving deficient items.
- Follows policy on documentation which is required to be uploaded in MWMA by medical records staff.
- After information is uploaded into MWMA, staff is responsible for filing/uploading to River Valley charts.
- Performs billing to Medicaid and State Contracts through EHR system used by River Valley. Billings are to be entered no later than the 5th day of the following month.
- Gathers, mails and logs information requested by and from external sources according to agency policy (audits, OIG, DDID, DAIL, etc.)
- Responsible for vehicle assignment and drills at the Henderson location
- Participates in skill enhancement activities and training as required.
- Fosters collaborative working relationships among members of the leadership and management teams and programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- Knowledge and proficient with computers and computer programs.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Working knowledge of business, English, spelling, arithmetic, office practices and procedures, and departmental rules and regulations.
- Ability to understand and implement oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed.
- Ability to use computers, scanner, and copier
- Ability to type accurately at a speed of at least 55 wpm.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Ability to meet well with the public and to deal effectively with their questions or inquiries, seeking assistance when needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, and staff in other departments.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to provide safe and reliable transportation.
