Job Description
Advanced Energy United seeks a proactive and detail-oriented Policy Intern to join our team for the Summer 2025 program. This role will help support United’s mission and work to shape a clean energy future in Maryland and Virginia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research regulatory landscape in both states.
- Analyze policies and regulations impacting the advanced energy sector, specifically for distributed energy resources and virtual power plants.
- Review and track all regulatory filings for Dominion Energy’s Net Energy Metering proceeding in Viriginia and all utility filings in Maryland related to Virtual Power Plants, Vehicle-to-grid electric vehicle charging programs, and time-of-use rates.
- Monitor and summarize relevant hearings and stakeholder meetings.
- Draft, review, and edit advocacy materials like testimonies, factsheets, formal comments and talking points.
- Assist in drafting discovery questions for utilities and other parties to the proceedings
The intern must be located in the DC, MD, VA area for the summer, a commutable distance to our DC office. A final project will be due from each intern and presented to the organization.
Required Skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Skills: Detail-oriented; intellectually curious; interest in advanced energy and/or public policy career

Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week
Compensation: $18.00/hr
