We are seeking a seasoned Associate to join the Semiconductors & Electronics Industry coverage, part of TMT Global Relationship Management Team for MUFG’s Global Corporate & Investment Bank (GCIB) in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY. The Associate will play a meaningful role in the bank’s go-to-market strategy, assume supporting responsibilities and direct coverage of select accounts, and become an indispensable and core contributor to the team by developing thematic ideas to elevate client dialogue and supporting materials (pitchbooks, models, etc). The Associate will be a strongly motivated self-starter. The position reports into the Head of Semiconductors & Electronics.

GCIB is responsible for managing the Bank's key domestic and international client relationships and main financing products. GCIB has a deep understanding of clients from a credit and strategic perspective, enabling it to offer the right products. At the center of the client relationship, the Relationship Management teams coordinate the commercial strategy as well as internal product partners (e.g., capital markets, rates & currencies, and transaction banking).

In this role, the Associate will assist with developing new business, preparing capital committee presentations, and structuring and closing commercial loans in the Semiconductor & Electronics sector. You will also maintain and service the existing portfolio as a Marketing Officer. In addition, you will represent the Bank in the targeted business community through participation in community affairs and the marketing of all the Bank's products and services. This role will be a blend between traditional corporate and investment banking responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior bankers with lending proposals, capital markets updates, and other pitches to existing and prospective clients.
  • Prepare and present memos at capital committee that highlight the business rationale for leading or participating in revolving credit facilities, term loans, and other debt products.
  • Negotiate terms, structure loan financing based on risk considerations, and present credits for approval to appropriate levels of authority.
  • Cross-sell bank products and services by identifying transaction opportunities, marketing each product to identified clients, negotiating the terms and conditions, and executing and documenting the transactions.
  • Develop a strategic and operational business plan for the department under the general guidelines provided by the Managing Director & Head of Semiconductors & Electronics.
  • Promote sales and marketing activity to the target market.
  • Seek new market opportunities for the group.
  • Manage loan closing process teams that include KYC, funding, and liquidity.
  • Support the Bank's culture through ongoing customer contact, quality customer service, and superior product knowledge.
  • Main responsibilities include client pitchbook materials (40%), securing capital committee approvals (40%), and managing loan closing processes (20%).
  • The Associate will develop their own calling effort and independently manage client relationships.

Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years' Associate level experience in U.S. banking and international markets with an emphasis on corporate or commercial credit analysis, capital markets and/or technology coverage. Investment banking experience will be considered.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including business writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • General knowledge of domestic and foreign financial markets and products, including structured finance, project finance, derivatives, IG bonds, LCM and ECM executions. Strong understanding of capital structure, how to assess creditworthiness / credit profiles and
