Description

POSITION SUMMARY 

Model and provide leadership to assigned teams to promote high performing team culture. Train and progress MAs in competency acquisition and skill development.  

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT 

In cooperation and close collaboration and communication with the Supervisors: 

  • Set the ‘tone’ on and off the Gemba by modeling principles of self-leadership, humility, honesty, teamwork, adaptability, collaboration, and responsiveness 

  • Reinforce and hold team accountable to True North standards and Team Agreement 

  • Reinforce clear performance expectations for team staff, hold team staff accountable to established expectations to ensure the GEMBA runs efficiently and smoothly 

  • Report problem behaviors to Supervisor.  Address problem behavior professionally, confidentially, and with a ‘growth and development’ mindset 

  • Provide routine performance management feedback to team staff using coaching conversations, follow up written communication, and other adopted performance management communication tools 

  • Invest in the growth and development of assigned staff encouraging staff to ‘take the next step’ in their career and professional development, coordinating resources as needed to support staff in their growth 

  • Formally recognize exceptional team staff performance 

  • Commit to personal leadership development work through NOHN provided training, self-development and reflection, and integrating coaching and feedback from the COO and Supervisors 

RESOURCE AND SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT 

  • In collaboration with the Supervisors manage resources and coverage for all clinical shifts problem solving as needed 

  • Ensure assigned staff take indicated rest and meal breaks based on their daily schedule; ensure breaks are communicated and covered; collect lunch waivers for staff as needed  

  • Collaborate and coordinate with all Team Trainers and Leads and Supervisors to ensure teams are equally covered 

  • Collaborate and coordinate with Trainers to ensure coverage respects trainee’s current competency status 

  • Ensure that assigned staff are oriented and able to backfill as needed across sites and teams 

CLINICAL SUPERVISION SUPPORT 

  • In collaboration with Trainers, supervise Clinical Support Staff (CSS) for excellence in clinical practice and compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, and clinc policies, procedures and work instructions 

  • Ensure team knows about and understands changes outlined in Change Notices, monitoring practices to ensure adherence to outlined changes 

  • In collaboration with Supervisors, provide daily oversight and ensure GEMBA floors are running efficiently and smoothly, problem solving as needed  

TEAM TRAINING AND LEADERSHIP 

  • Ensure all staff are fully trained, competencies assessed and documented, and that new staff are progressing as expected in their orientation and training, communicating progress regularly to all Team Trainers and Supervisor 

  • Establish a Training Community of Practice with All Trainers to continuously improve training practices, tools, and outcomes 

  • Reinforce clear vision team that elevates the importance of true teamwork 

  • Reinforce optimism, teamwork, team cohesion, and good team hygiene, providing timely feedback when assigned staff deviate from team principles 

  • Practice active listening and gracefully giving and receiving feedback  

  • Lead department meetings in collaboration with the Supervisors, Quality, Chief Operating Officer, and/or Clinical Staff Manager (Future state) 

  • Participate in any necessary meetings, committees, etc. 

  • Collaborate with staff, Supervisors, Managers and leadership to reinforce high team performance 

  • Provide regular and timely feedback to Supervisors, Clinical Staff Manager(s), and the COO to help support continuous improvement
