Position Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the quality of health care in Florida.

We are seeking to hire Senior Pharmacist who desires to work to enhance the delivery of health care services through the Florida Medicaid Program. 

This position requires a candidate who is creative, flexible, innovative, and who will thrive in a fast-paced, team-based work environment.

 

This position is located in the Bureau of Medicaid Policy.

Medicaid Policy is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of Florida Medicaid program policies, including: all Medicaid federal authorities (e.g., the Florida State Plan, 1115 waivers and home and community based waivers), administrative rules, coverage policies, managed care plan contracts, bill analyses, drug utilization review boards, preferred drug lists, supplemental rebate contracts, and KidCare/Title 21.

 

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing program development functions for the Prescribed Drugs Program and providing subject matter expertise in clinical protocol and criteria for Pharmacy Policy.

 

Examples of work include:

- Employ medical, pharmaceutical, and regulatory knowledge concerning the Florida Medicaid fee-for-service and managed care programs and other health care service programs in the provision of pharmacy services.

- Design and participate in extensive research related to pharmacy and health care applying appropriate research methodology, including the application of economic principles such as cost-effectiveness and cost analysis.

- Incorporate research findings in reports and presentations for agency staff, stakeholders, and other health service disciplines.

- Plan, develop, and implement policies and procedures for the statewide Medicaid Prescribed Drug Program.

- Review and analyze proposed federal legislation, rules, regulations, and guidelines to determine the impact on the prescribed drug program.

- Network with members of other health, social, and administrative disciplines and initiate and/or collaborate in interdisciplinary research endeavors related to pharmacy practice and other health services.

- Participate in the competitive and non-competitive procurement and in the development and management of contracts.
