Principal Engineer - Flight Sciences in  GAC Savannah

Unique Skills:

As part of the Flight Sciences technical staff, this position is intended to provide technical leadership and certification strategy leadership across disciplines and products.  A viable candidate will have long experience in development, test, certification, and support of transport-category airplanes in multiple Flight Sciences disciplines.  

 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Apply deep understanding of certification processes, certification plans and flight test plans, analysis tools development, flight test execution and support, flight data analysis, models validation and data expansion. 
• Exercise wide latitude in work assignments, priorities, and methods to meet department and company objectives.
• Develop consensus across the teams on approach to problems, directions to pursue in analysis, strategies to apply to various engineer problems. 
• Provide technical direction to team members conducting this work.
• Take inititiative to foresee upcoming problems and mitigate them early. 
• Plan and lead technical reviews, 
• Proactively promote process inititiatives to ensure technical rigor, improve efficiency and repeatability, and create maximum value in Gulfstream's products. 
• Serve as a consultant to Flight Sciences and Engineering leadership on a variety of topics. 

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of appropriate education/experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Advanced degree in eng, or related curriculum preferred. 15+ years specific technical discipline with Bachelors. Experience credit considered for related adv degrees limited to 2 yrs for Masters, 4 yrs PhD in fields applicable to job.

Applies specialized engineering knowledge to broad and complex engineering problems; Works on engineering projects containing significant and uniquely challenging problems requiring highly innovative solutions

1. Responsible for an engineering project; successful completion requires the use of innovative technical advances, methods and processes .
2. Applies solutions that are highly innovative and sets new precedence for engineering function and industry .
3. Introduces and champions new technologies for Gulfstream aircraft and company processes .
4. Actively promotes R&D initiatives that will meet or further Gulfstream objectives .
5. Acts independently to conduct technical research, develop new methods and/or procedures to complete complex assignments .
6. Is consulted extensively by associates and others with a high degree of reliance placed on the incumbent scientific interpretations and advice.

Perform other duties as assigned.
