LyondellBasell’s Digital Advanced Analytics organization provides value focused and scalable digital, data-driven, and advanced analytics solutions across LyondellBasell’s enterprise. Through working closely with the team’s Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and chemical manufacturing SMEs, the Digital Engineer will have the opportunity to provide significant tangible business value through guiding, supporting and assisting in the development and deployment of scalable data-driven products and Machine Learning (ML) models. This requires a team of innovative, energetic, productive, software development minded, and humble individuals who demonstrate LyondellBasell’s core values in the application of Digital capabilities and workflows on each project. Roles & Responsibilities
- Serve as a technically hands-on engineer contributing to chemical manufacturing advanced analytics products
- Serve as a digital “translator” between the Digital Advanced Analytics team and chemical manufacturing end users and domain experts
- Perform Machine Learning (ML) model prototyping and feature engineering
- Provide guidance and direction on Olefins Furnace advanced analytics solutions
- Work collaboratively with business SMEs (Process Engineers, Automation Engineers, Reliability Engineers, and other business domain experts), Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Software Engineers in providing hands-on domain expertise which is critical to delivering data driven solutions on high impact problems
- Perform tag mapping of chemical manufacturing site assets and data, in conjunction with manufacturing counterparts and advanced analytics team members
- Perform physics-based modeling and technical solution development work
- Perform domain data analysis and troubleshooting leveraging chemical manufacturing data
- Serve as a domain advisor providing guidance and recommendations on advanced analytics solutions, roadmaps, and features
- Work with chemical manufacturing sites and GE&T resources on MOC and other related work processes
- Network internally and externally to build relationships that foster technology transfer and collaboration
Min. Qualifications
- BS (MS strongly preferred) in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field, with additional experience required in the place of advanced education
- 4+ years professional hands on manufacturing engineering experience with a PhD, or 6+ years’ experience with an MS degree, or 8+ years’ experience with a BS degree, ideally in refining, petrochemical, or chemical environment
- Knowledgeable in chemical, process, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering aspects
- Olefins Furnace technical and domain knowledge and experience
- Demonstrated ability to work under the direction of others and in a team
- High level of enthusiasm and a love of data, digital solutions, and technology
- Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills, including strong data, technical, and mathematical knowledge and skills
- Strong experience with and knowledge of chemical manufacturing data
- Python or other programming experience
- Experience in working with engineering related technologies and solutions, in the areas of analysis, simulation, optimization, and modeling
Preferred Qualifications
- MS strongly preferred, with a PhD preferred
- 8+ years professional hands on manufacturing engineering experience with a PhD, or 10+ years’ experience with an MS degree, or 12+ years’ experience with a BS degree, ideally in refining, petrochemical, or chemical environment
