Job Description
The Student Health Center is seeking applications for a Laboratory Technician 1. *This position does not provide lay-off rights and is contingent upon funding. This position will provide laboratory support for the Student Health Center. This position is an integral part of the success of the Student Health Center and is one of busiest departments at the Student Health Center.
The Laboratory Technician 1 will draw blood, ensure lab specimens and lab slips have proper labeling and prepare lab specimens for pick-up and/or delivery. The Laboratory Technician 1 will perform several CLIA waived tests, quarterly proficiency testing and COVID testing and reporting. Maintains adequate laboratory supply inventory to include stocking, ordering new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies using standard operating procedure.
Essential Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of laboratory experience performing various laboratory procedures; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
This position requires Phlebotomy experience (Minimum 2 years)
This position requires the ability to obtain a State of Nevada Office Laboratory license.
Schedule
Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
Compensation Grade
Grade 25
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
