Job Description:

Assistant Director, Law Center - Center for Continuing Professional Development (CCPD)

The Assistant Director of CCPD for the LSU Law Center assists in the coordination and administration of continuing legal education (CLE) offerings to the public.  In order to fulfill the duties of the position, the Assistant Director must work independently and have excellent oral and written communication skills.  Predominant responsibilities include the department’s customer relationship management, including registration/payment processes for the department’s offerings and print, electronic, and social media marketing efforts. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for site procurement/management and coordinate catering, printing, and logistical services for each event. The Assistant Director may be charged with directly supervising additional full-time customer service support staff and student employees. The Assistant Director will also assist in various other tasks related to live or online course production and implementation at the Director’s discretion. Bachelor’s degree required. Proficiency in desktop productivity (MS Office products) and publication (Adobe products) software is necessary.

Occasional travel, early morning, evening, and Saturday work required. Candidate can expect 6-7 in-state trips annually, usually consisting of Wednesday - Friday travel only. In addition, the candidate may be expected to staff 1 or 2 out-of-state conferences (Texas or other neighboring states). Most conferences require early-morning setup (typically no earlier than 6:30 am), and some require early-evening dismissals, dinner, or evening reception attendance (approximately 8 evenings). Though this is not currently the case, our conferences have spanned Saturday mornings in the past, and some personal and professional development conferences span the weekend. (1-2 weekends per year). Professional staff are expected to attend at least 1 personal, professional development conference each year requiring out-of-state, overnight travel, or virtual attendance (if offered).

Ability to lift 30-40 lbs. repetitively required for all conferences.

Job Responsibilities:

35% Seminar pre-production

Oversee registration and payment operations for all departmental offerings. Monitor online registration systems and work with appropriate IT personnel to improve processes and/or resolve issues. In the absence of a Customer Service Coordinator, the Assistant Director will also be directly responsible for handling registrations and all resulting communications

Maintain customer relationship management system/database records and generate statistical, marketing, and financial reports

Initiate daily revenue deposits, refunds, and reconciliations

Maintain excellent customer service and relations by closely monitoring and supervising all oral and written communications, offering prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable replies to customer inquiries and concerns. In the absence of a Customer Service Coordinator, the Assistant Director will serve as the primary customer liaison for the department, handling all communications personally.

Procure meeting space and catering services for seminars


Process Requests for Quotation, Purchase Requisitions, Receiving Reports and Invoices for procured goods and services according to LSU policy and guidelines

Administer sponsorship program and serve as primary liaison with sponsor/potential sponsors

10% Seminar implementation and oversight

Assist the Director to coordinate the reproduction, delivery, and distribution of seminar course materials

Prepare, pack, and transport registration and seminar supplies for off-site seminars

Supervise/work the registration desk at seminars

Monitor facilities and catering activities at seminars to ensure compliance with bid specifications and event orders

Assist seminar faculty with the design and execution of multi-media presentations a
