Job Summary:

The Base Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the team and assigned geographical base, ensuring that procedures and policies are carried out in a safe, standard, and efficient manner compliant within accreditation standards. Reports directly to the LifeFlight Ground Clinical Manager. The Base Supervisor oversees the Paramedic and AEMT staff members and actively participates in overall supervision of the base, supports clinical practice, and provision of patient care with accountabilities for day-to-day people leadership, quality, service, compliance, throughput, and scheduling. The primary focus of the Base Supervisor is to ensure optimal performance of the base by engaging in effective problem solving with staff, patients, and families and to develop and lead the assigned base resources. The Base Supervisor provides feedback and coaching to staff members, recognizing them for their contributions while fostering a high-performance culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides clinical leadership for the team and assures that patient care is facilitated in accordance with the standards, practice, and protocols of the department.
  • Provides operational guidance to the staff, makes operational decisions as necessary and follows up on additional administrative duties such as base supplies and fleet maintenance with respective resources.
  • Develops, leads, and evaluates base employees on work team performance.
  • Oversees base projects and other on-going work activities (timelines, work plans, deliverables) in alignment with division plan and vision.
  • Acts as a leader for staff on clinical standards; routinely provides clinical guidance/coaching to subordinates/peers.
  • Ensures scheduling assignments are based on patient transport care needs and demonstrated staff competencies.
  • Provides advanced pre-hospital and inter-facility patient care from initial contact until care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility.

Reshapes project during life-cycle evolution, if needed. Demonstrates ability to break down work into manageable and measurable units. Accepts changes to assignments with minimal disruption and loss of productivity. Able to absorb changes to major assignments while maintaining a high level of performance. Uses available time efficiently. Follows up to assure problems and issues are resolved.
  • People Management (Novice): Conducts performance reviews. Effectively delegates tasks to others. Coaches subordinates on technical and interpersonal topics, as well as professional development.
