Job Description Summary
The AME Leader – Machine Head / Drive Train will lead advanced manufacturing engineering activities for machine head and drive train operations within Wind Manufacturing. This role is responsible for developing and industrializing manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment; driving plant standardization; and improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. The role will partner closely with product and plant teams to support product launches, technology deployment, process capability, and operational excellence.Job Description
This leader will own the AME strategy and execution for machine head / drive train operations, including process development, equipment deployment, plant support, and standardization across sites. The role also supports NTIs, product launches, and chronic issue resolution while building technical capability within the organization.
Essential Responsibilities
● Lead advanced manufacturing engineering activities for machine head and drive train operations.
● Develop and define manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment to support NTIs and product launches.
● Lead automation and technology projects related to machine head / drive train manufacturing.
● Standardize best-known methods, tooling concepts, and equipment solutions across plants.
● Lead specification development, sourcing support, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and operational handoff for tooling and equipment.
● Solve chronic technical manufacturing issues using structured problem solving and root cause analysis.
● Provide manufacturing input into product development and support DFM/DFA improvements.
● Support product transfer, launch readiness, ramp-up, and capacity expansion.
● Drive improvements in OEE, labor productivity, throughput, and manufacturing cost.
● Build team capability and foster a strong culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline.
● Significant experience in manufacturing engineering, industrialization, advanced manufacturing, or operations support in a complex industrial environment.
● Experience with tooling/equipment development, process validation, and production ramp-up.
● Experience leading technical teams and cross-functional projects.
● Strong problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
Desired Characteristics
● Experience in machine assembly, drive train systems, nacelle manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations.
● Strong lean manufacturing and continuous improvement mindset.
● Knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, process capability, and validation methods.
● Ability to influence across functions and standardize solutions across multiple sites.
● Strong focus on execution and measurable business outcomes.
