Senior Lead Structural Engineer (m/f/d)

We re-invent flying and make individual air mobility as normal as driving a car – opening the sky for everyone.</p><h3>Job Description</h3><p>We are looking for a talented and experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join our growing start-up company in the aviation industry. You will be responsible for leading a team of 10 engineers who design, develop, test, and optimize the structural and mechanical aspects of our innovative aircraft products.</p><p><br/> As a Lead Structural Engineer, you will:</p><ul><li>Manage the engineering team’s workload, schedule, budget, and performance,</li><li>Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the engineers on advanced topics such as fatigue, vibration, endurance, composite structures, etc.</li><li>Review and approve the engineering designs, calculations, reports, and documentation,</li><li>Coordinate with other engineering teams, project managers, suppliers, and customers to ensure the quality and feasibility of the products,</li><li>Evaluate different design variations and trade-offs and propose optimal solutions,</li><li>Identify and resolve any technical issues or risks that may arise during the product development cycle,</li><li>Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in the aviation industry and incorporate them into the engineering processes,</li><li>Assess and validate the structural integrity and dynamic characteristics of aircraft and aircraft components using test data to ensure compliance with industry standards.</li><li>Propose, plan and coordinate tests for materials, tools, and concepts validation.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree or higher in structural engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field</li><li>More than 10 years of relevant work experience in the aviation industry, preferably in a leadership role</li><li>Strong knowledge of structural and mechanical engineering principles, methods, standards, optimization techniques, and best practices</li><li>Knowledge of stress, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments, especially for CFRP and metallic structures is a plus.</li><li>Experience in test data processing and FEA model correlations with test results.</li><li>Knowledge of materials science and processes</li><li>Proficient in using various engineering software tools such as CAD, FEA, CFD, etc.</li><li>Creative and analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills</li><li>Collaborative and communicative attitude with strong interpersonal skills</li><li>Passion for innovation and excellence in the aviation industry</li></ul><h3>Additional Information</h3><ul><li>Exciting and challenging development work on a revolutionary technology in a young dynamic team</li><li>Short decision-making processes and varied tasks</li><li>The chance to develop and shape the company in your domain and to develop your technical and managerial skills</li><li>An international environment</li><li>Flexible working hours</li><li>Team events: BBQs, happy hours, teambuilding activities</li><li>Market oriented &amp; experience-based remuneration</li></ul>
