ABOUT Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

As Principal Operational Readiness – Group & Functional Integration you will collaborate with all Global leaders at South32 to seamlessly integrate the optimal practices (in or outside of industry) into Hermosa. You will work with the teams to ensures clear decision accountability locally per pre-defined ways of working. This role  will be responsible for ensuring all global teams, standards and functions are fully captured and reviewed to establish a sustainable strategy, a clear wiring into Hermosa, clear Service Level Agreements (SLA) to empower teams to deliver and solve problems at the lowest organizational level possible.

 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 
•    Global Functions Integration: Collaborate with Vice Presidents and their delegates to identify all functional integration which must be mapped into Hermosa Operations.
•    Establish criteria for successful integration of each function, track the effectiveness and ensure appropriate routines are in place with each Group VP to get to aligned and successful outcomes to support Hermosa.
•    Across all global and local procedures, develop a clear way of working for the local operations team to make daily decisions in real time, ensure clarity to who locally is able to support urgent/immediate firm directives and a process of how this is smooth at all interfaces from local decisions to global expertise being leveraged in an optimal manner
•    Group Standards: Comprehensively review all Group Standards and ensure a plan towards achieving all requirements of clarifying anything which cannot be achieved or if it would be a negative to value of Hermosa.
•    Local Wiring and Decision Authority and Global Expertise Locked into Hermosa Ways of Working

 

ABOUT YOU 
•    Bachelor's degree in Business, Mining, Engineering or other related field
•    10 years experience in mining including 5 years working with or for global functional teams
•    5 years working for a Global Mining Company with experience working across countries
•    Strong knowledge of Global Mining Organizations, ways of working and experience in functional and operational relationships.
•    Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset towards identifying and addressing operational challenges.
•    Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance in mining operations.
