Associate Director, INT Financial Planning & Analysis

The Role

This role is an exciting opportunity to join Moderna on its mission to deliver on the promise of mRNA science to create a new generation of transformative medicines for patients. The Associate Director of Individualized Neoantigen Therapies (INT) FP&A will be a critical member of the finance team, reporting to the SVP of CMC Finance. The role will provide support to the Head of Finance for INT and will own and drive the financial planning, performance management, scenario and strategic planning activities, including Cost of Goods Manufactured and Sold, Major Capital, construction and Tech Development Projects.

This is a highly visible role working very closely with our INT CMC leadership teams and will also have strong exposure to FLT and some Executive Committee members.

Here’s What You’ll Do

• Assist the FP&A team(s) in the preparation of monthly/quarterly financial deliverables (internal and External for the Collaboration), including Management reporting and month-end close support.

• Lead the financial planning and analysis function, including annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-term strategic planning.

• Partner with both the accounting operations team and organizational business leaders.

• Develop financial models and scenario planning to support strategic initiatives and decision-making processes.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to understand and challenge key business assumptions and their financial implications.

• Provide insights into opportunities for financial, operational efficiency improvements and technology development leaps.

• Prepare and present financial results and analysis to senior leadership.

• Ensure compliance with internal financial accounting procedures and policies.

• Co-Lead Capital Budgeting and tracking for each new project expenditure for internal and external purposes. Support capital project prioritization exercises and detailed budget build-outs for construction projects.

• Collaborate with the Accounting and Tax teams to ensure appropriate accruals for capital/construction projects and proper external reporting.

• Manage and drive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

• 8+ years of experience in related field, including financial planning & analysis, or financial operations roles

• Bachelor’s degree required

• Experience with cost accounting, advanced analytical platforms, and visualization tools

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

• MBA, CPA preferred

• Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry experience

• Strong business acumen: proven ability to effectively scrutinize and challenge assumptions and interpret the strategy and priorities of the organization in financial terms

• Excellent project management / leadership skills with demonstrated track record and ability to engage teams to work together towards common deadlines.

• Strong presentation skills to deliver succinctly and effectively deliver recommendations to senior leaders, frames complex concepts

• Prior experience working in a matrixed environment; experience coordinate processes and delivering results through the collaboration of related teams

• Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions and different culture

• Exceptional attitude, attention to detail and ability to motivate teams to do the same

• Understanding of operational dynamics and the external environment
