About the role

Job Description:

Want to join the ATR adventure? An internship opportunity has just opened on our site in Toulouse-Francazal !

In 2023, ATR has been awarded the Happy Trainees label. 95.8% of students recommend our company after their work-study or internship.

What we will do together:

Being an intern at ATR means being integrated into a team as a full member with a real scope of intervention and responsibilities. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills and experience within a market leading company!

Within the Flight Test department of the Engineering and more particularly in the Test Instrumentation and Data Analysis department, the Flight test data analysis team supports the delivery of ATR 42/72 production aircraft by checking the FDR data recording conformity and supports also the investigations on anomalies occurred during the acceptance flights.

The activity has been partially automated in 2018 but it needs to be upgraded at last standards to improve relevance, quality and speed of our answers.

The trainee’s mission will be to support the quality improvement on production aircraft by upgrading the algorithms for analyzing FDR/QAR data on acceptance flights.

ACTIVITIES

In this frame, we are looking for an apprentice engineer to:

  • Make a situational analysis of the existing algorithm (available in Java and running through the app DALI developed in-house by ATR for FDR/QAR data exploitation).
  • Identify and formalize safety, regulation, quality, design and operational data related to all FDR parameters.
  • Define analysis and verification principles, whether it is for FDR data validation or for supporting an anomaly raised by the Flight crew, independently of the flight profile.
  • Define appropriate metrics for characterizing and validating behavior of all recorded data; for instance: no overrun of mechanicals limits, respect of tolerances, accuracies and thresholds, check signal activation …
  • Define appropriate metrics for characterizing and checking the aircraft behavior and compare results to the ATR fleet : trim settings, extension/retraction time of gears and flaps, performance at flight levels …
  • Define rules for presenting results in a clear, factual, relevant and accurate way, including further inspection recommendations if needed (by Retex of these last years).
  • Convert the Java script in Python and upgrade the algorithm in accordance with new metrics and results presentation rules.
  • Code, test and validate the algorithm using the huge amount of acceptance flights.
  • Update the plots that illustrate the anomalies and give appropriate context.

To carry out these activities, the trainee will interact with the integration teams, the Production MAP, the flight engineers and the pilots.

This internship is made for you

The degree diploma is a general engineer degree with good knowledge in aeronautics systems/performance/handling qualities

• The trainee will have coding skills (Python, Java)

• Expected competencies:

  • Business skills: aeronautical knowledge (initial training, BIA, internship in aerodrome…)
  • Language skills: Read and Written English
  • Computer skills: Python, Java
  • Interpersonal skills: autonomous, dynamic, teamwork, adaptability, good communication
