Data Governance Controls Analyst

Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per month

Position Summary

The Data Governance Controls Analyst (DGCA) plays an important role in overseeing and facilitating the execution and fulfillment of data governance controls. This position is a crucial component of our comprehensive Data Protection program and involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

 

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of a full-time team leader, the DGCA will utilize data governance tools (e.g., Informatica IDMC) to ensure workflows are effectively executed and the maintenance of data governance metadata.
• The DGCA will troubleshoot data source scans, placing special focus on Personal Identifying Information (PII) and Personal Health Information (PHI)
• Assess current levels of data protection including tokenized fields and/or other controls.
• Document scan results and link with various business concepts (e.g., business terms, reports, processes) as represented in NYL’s enterprise catalog (e.g., Informatica CDGC)
• Engage with data stewards and other subject matter experts as necessary to address overlooked control requirements and associated activities.
• Maintain frequent communication with team leaders and regularly engage with the broader data governance team to convey findings and updates.

 

Experience

• Demonstrated ability and persistence to analyze data and solve problems
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and hypothesize cause and effect relationships
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changes
• Effective use of SQL (TOAD, SQL Workbench)
• Effective and timely communication in verbal and written forms
• Team-oriented and able to interact with a diverse group
• A proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently and remotely (e.g., via Zoom)

• Hands-on experience with Informatica tools (including CDGC, AXON, EDC, IDQ, CDQ)
• Experience with data governance and stewardship is desired
• Basic understanding of insurance business and its products is desired

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, Bachelor’s degree in progress, or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years with a role in data management, business analysis or problem solving

 

 

Salary range: $72,500-$107,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
