SHINE Technologies, LLC is seeking an Electrical/I&C Field Engineer to take ownership for identifying, resolving and tracking issues related to implementing the electrical and instrumentation systems of the SHINE Medical Isotope Production Facility.  


A good fit for a hands-on construction-based engineer with a focus on electrical distribution systems, terminations and testing. This position requires working closely with other disciplines to identify and resolve issues in a collaborative environment. The Electrical/I&C Field Engineer is responsible for working with Contractors and Engineers of Record to ensure designs are correctly implemented in the field, configuration control is maintained, all testing is completed as required, and documentation is correct to support closeout and handover to SHINE Commissioning and Operations.  


Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities of the Field Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide Contractor oversight to ensure that the facility is built in accordance with design and compliant with all Codes and Standards as defined in design documents, and all NRC, State and local regulations.
  • Work closely with Engineering to provide constructability reviews of new and existing designs, supporting Engineering activities, as needed.
  • Owners representative for all aspects related to successful implementation of Electrical/I&C scope of work.
  • Utilize information available to develop a plan of action to resolve issues in the field, including reviewing drawings, codes, contractor submittals and the 3D model.
  • Generate and respond to RFIs, and draft ECRs including drawing markups, using Adobe or Bluebeam with technical and formal accuracy. 
  • Perform daily field reconnaissance and identify potential discrepancies from approved design documents prior to installation by Contractors. 
  • Accountable for ensuring assigned work packages remain current, all hold points are met, and work packages are reviewed and closed in a timely manner.
  • Report deviations between design documentation and as-built construction to Contractors. Works with the SHINE Engineering and Quality Assurance departments to provide resolution to construction related concerns or issues. 
  • Identify and track items adverse to quality and provide solutions to resolve non-confirming designs via the NCR process.
  • Propose alternate design solutions for non-conforming designs and work with the Construction organization and the SSC Engineer of Record (EOR) to facilitate said changes, or alternate solutions developed by the EOR.
  • Drive the Construction of the SHINE Production Facility by implementing NCR dispositions and closing NCRs. 
  • Performs field walkdowns to ensure SSCs are installed in accordance with design and provides input to contractor responsible for installation or testing. 
  • Perform in-process reviews of work packages to ensure inspections and documentation are current.
  • Perform field walkdowns of completed SSC installations in support of closing work packages.
  • Perform final reviews and closure of completed work packages to support turnover to SHINE Commissioning team.
  • Drive Contractors for assigned scopes of work through to completion.
  • Initiate corrective action program (Certrec) Issue Management Reports (IMR), and complete assigned actions.
  • Assists Construction Manager with reviews of construction or fabrication schedules to assist with planning work or troubleshooting issues.
  • Assist Construction Manager by verifying/validating by daily field observation the accuracy of schedule status provided by Contractors. 
  • Support and assist all divisions of the company as needed to execute activities required to complete the construction of the Production Facility and turnover to the Operations organization.
  • Use clear and effective communication to interface and collaborate with external stakeholders to advance SHINE project goals (engineer of record, contractors and vendors).
  • Exhibit a positive attitude when tackling field issues and exemplifying personal accountability by following through issues to completion
  • Be a champion for safety by executing walkdowns in a safe manner, and coaching others, when needed to improve overall site safety.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering-Construction or Field Engineering Manager.
  • Ensure configuration control is maintained by initiating ECRs for design changes and follow through ECR implementation in the field.
