Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

The ideal candidate for the position of Senior Network Engineer will have experience designing, deploying, and managing large-scale enterprise networks across a global footprint, with focus on performance optimization scalability. This position will manage and monitor the network infrastructure, provide troubleshooting support. Proposing and implementing system enhancements, including software and hardware updates that will improve performance, reliability, and scalability of the network.

This position requires one-on-one with excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with highly technical peers, and the capability to manage workload among changing priorities, alternating between project work and 24/7 operational support.

Roles and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for:

  • Perform activities required to plan, deploy, manage, support, and scale a mission-critical 24/7 IP network in a rapidly expanding, global hybrid cloud environment.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve different types of network problems.
  • Proactively review vulnerabilities in the network and provide strategy/options for mitigation.
  • Manage assigned network hardware installation, configuration, and maintenance, including coordinating carriers and circuit installations, and related software configuration and monitoring tools.
  • Proactively support KLO and sustainment by replacing faulty systems and hardware, firmware updates, dashboard monitoring, and response, performance, and operations metrics exploration/responses.
  • Interface with our Engineering, QA, Customer Support, NOC, and Technical Operations teams to identify and resolve customer issues.
  • Participate in the team’s 24/7 network on-call rotation schedule.
  • Evaluate new technologies and support the decision-making process and long-term technical direction.

Qualifications

Skill/Job Requirements:

To adequately perform the responsibilities of this position the person must:

  • Hands-on experience with the networking products of major vendors (e.g., Cisco, F5), along with exceptional Unix/Linux/Storage system knowledge and proficiency with the related disciplines.
  • 6+ years of network engineering experience dealing with large enterprise infrastructures.
  • Experience maintaining and expanding high volume, dynamic, globally distributed network points of presence.
  • Must work well in a fast-paced, changing environment and be able to manage multiple tasks, projects, and initiatives with different priorities at the same time.
  • Subject matter expertise in networking, IPv4 / IPv6, BGP, EIGRP, IP anycast, load balancing, and firewalls.
  • Proven ability to configure, troubleshoot, and debug core networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, DHCP, Domain Name System (DNS), and SNMP, and experience with successfully applying these protocols to solve complex networking problems.
  • Excellent ability to review TCP/IP stack and SSL traffic.
  • Must have experience managing SG, VIF, VPN, and BYOIP in AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • The ability to deploy Quality of Service, IPSec, and multicast are also essential.
  • Solid ability to deploy and manage Cisco Firepower, network security, and web application firewalls
