Collins Aerospace is looking to hire an Aero Thermal Fluids Engineer I to fulfill a wind tunnel engineering role.
In this position, you will join our Analysis and Test group at Collins in Burnsville, MN. The Analysis and Test group is comprised of several analysts, subject matter experts, test engineers, and test technicians that support the environmental test lab, EMI/EMC lab, wind tunnel testing labs, and engineering labs. As a part of this group, you will support the research, development, and the qualification of all parts manufactured in Burnsville. This role is onsite, in Burnsville, MN. This role may be eligible for relocation.
What You Will Do:
- You will characterize and track the performance of aerodynamic sensors over time in the wind tunnels using MATLAB.
- You will ensure that databases tracking aerodynamic sensors location is accurate.
- You will assist engineering staff with troubleshooting wind tunnels when it not functioning.
- You will complete projects that work toward the long-term improvement of the wind tunnels and you will perform preventative maintenance on the wind tunnels.
- You will complete CAD drawings of test fixtures that are needed for the wind tunnels and assist clients with issues in the wind tunnels.
What You Will Learn:
- How to use MATLAB to find trends in data sets.
- How to use Creo to CAD test fixtures.
- How a wind tunnel functions.
- How to troubleshoot complex systems.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with CAD software and/or numerical analysis software.
- Experience with fabrication.
- Familiarity with aerodynamic principles.
