Business Risk Associate Opportunity

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented Business Risk Associate to support our risk management initiatives and help minimize operational and strategic risks across the organization. Reporting to the VP of Risk Management, this role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with company policies, government regulations, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of risk management programs to mitigate incidents and financial exposure.
  • Manage and analyze Workers’ Compensation, Professional/General Liability, Auto, and other insurance claims, coordinating with locations and insurance carriers.
  • Identify risk trends and provide data-driven insights to enhance safety and compliance efforts.
  • Support the incident reporting, investigation, and analysis process to drive improvements in workplace safety and liability prevention.
  • Assist in the management of return-to-work programs, OSHA recordkeeping, and Surety Bond administration.
  • Provide guidance on company risk management policies and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Handle confidential health information in accordance with privacy laws and organizational policies.

Responsibilities

Risk Management: 

  • Responsible for the timely review, assessment and reporting of all Workers’ Compensation, Professional/General Liability, and Auto insurance claims to the insurance carrier for the organization. May assist with claim reporting for other insurance lines, as assigned.
  • Reviews all Employee Incident Reports and investigations, working with locations on corrective actions to prevent recurrence and future exposures.
  • Identifies new claims with the potential for severity, multi-party claims, subrogation, and claims as otherwise defined; alerts the VP of Risk Management to same.
  • Works with VP of Risk Management to identify and analyze incident trends in all areas, assisting with the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Participates in the internal management of insurance claims, providing direct communication to internal and external parties, including but not limited to insurance claim adjusters, insurance brokers and/or defense counsel, as appropriate.
  • Participates in periodic insurance carrier claim reviews.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for locations, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators regarding new Workers’ Compensation and Auto claims. May assist with other insurance lines, as assigned.
  • Provides education, guidance, and support to locations on Employee Incident Reporting and Workers' Compensation procedures, ensuring locations have all materials required to comply.
  • Strongly advocates for the Transitional Return to Work program to support injured employees and minimize lost workdays, control workers' compensation indemnity expenses, and improve employee recovery outcomes.
  • Under the direction and guidance of the VP of Risk Management, may participate in the litigation process and settlement negotiations, as needed.
  • Partners with the VP of Risk Management for internal review of policies and procedures related to the department; recommends updates and changes accordingly.
  • Participates in and/or facilitates monthly Risk Management calls with site HR professionals and Administrators, reviewing all work-related incidents and other Risk Management related items.
  • Updates and maintains documentation of Risk Management monthly call database.
  • Assists VP of Risk Management with education and direct support to locations with OSHA Recordkeeping.
  • Maintains all insurance claim databases, claim files, entering claim data with extreme accuracy.
  • Responsible for updating and disseminating contact information to insurance carriers monthly.
  • Manages Defense Counsel requests for medical records and other resident information related to claims.
  • Maintains monthly and annual claim data trending reports.
  • Reviews monthly insurance carrier loss runs to ensure information accuracy. Distributes Workers’ Compensation Loss Runs and statistics to all locations monthly.
  • Manages Certificate of Insurance (COI) Requests and auto ID cards with insurance broker, maintaining internal databases and distributions.
  • Assists in the annual insurance renewal process, provides updated organization information, compiling statistics and may participate in the application process, as requested.
  • Maintains enterprise Vehicle Inventory database, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.
  • Manages Surety Bond renewal process for all locations,
