Summary of Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic initiative-taker who wants to join a fast-growing company supporting the accounting functions with life sciences and pharmaceutical support experience. The Director of Accounting will join Lantheus as a key member of the accounting team, helping to streamline accounting processes including monthly and quarterly reporting, while continuing to build out a high-performing accounting team and integrating recently announced acquisitions. This individual will help drive process improvements and digital transformation opportunities within the accounting function. This individual will have a strong technical accounting background, driving timely and accurate financial closes, effective internal controls, and compliance to company policies.
- Lead accounting team and foster culture of continuous improvement in month-end close processes for timely and accurate results. Review trend analysis and reconciliations, while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and local regulations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, modeling best practices to enhance the accounting function. Lead, retain, and develop a high-performing team by supporting their growth, providing motivation, prompt feedback, and coaching, while setting clear expectations and holding individuals accountable for performance and behavior. Effectively manage 2-3 direct reports.
- Assist in integrating recently announced acquisitions, including alignment on accounting policies and procedures. Review of purchase accounting work and monthly results reviews, including the identification of US GAAP/IFRS accounting differences.
- Prepare and/or review technical accounting assessments, including drafting and reviewing technical accounting positions and policy memos as required. Strong knowledge of complex accounting matters including revenue recognition, business combinations, lease accounting, debt, stock-based compensation, etc.
- Review SEC filings, including Forms 8-K, 10-Q, and 10-K, along with related earnings releases. Take ownership of resolving accounting questions and issues, including the adoption of new accounting standards.
- Possess strong understanding of consolidations, including complex intercompany activities and sub-consolidations. Experienced in reviewing BS, PL, cash flows, EPS, equity rollforward and other key financial schedules.
- Help optimize accounting systems including SAP, SAC, Lease Query, Audit board, and identify other improvement areas, including implementation of close reporting software.
- Assist in preparing materials for the Audit Committee and Board, including insights into accounting trends, financial results, and special projects.
- Partner cross-functionally with the organization, including key company initiatives such as business development activity, SAP optimization and other critical projects.
- Serve as a key resource to interface with internal and external auditors, providing necessary support for fieldwork. Ensure compliance and timely execution of company controls and policies
- Serve as a utility player able to assist with various financial related projects.
Key Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, demonstrating a successful track record and progressive responsibilities.; 5+ years of management responsibility.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required; CPA certification is mandatory. An MBA or master’s in accounting is preferred.
- Significant experience in accounting management within a manufacturing environment or equivalent.
- Proficiency in manual and automated accounting systems; experience with SAP S/4HANA or other large ERP systems is essential.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational abilities with a proven capacity to multitask effectively.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a dynamic, demanding environment.
- Demonstrated capability to work independently and collaboratively
