Senior Associate, Accountant

The candidate will support the VP, Controller US P&C during the quarterly close process including but not limited to preparation of various reconciliations and reporting of financial information.
The candidate will assist in ensuring that all internal accounting processes are maintained to ensure the accuracy and quality of financial information, in compliance with relevant accounting frameworks.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to contribute to the financial operations of the company. They will have a high sense of teamwork and work ethic and will be able to assist the accounting function in providing deliverables timely.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and reports.
- Assist with quarterly, and annual closing activities, including but not limited to:.
- Identify and resolve reconciliation open items
- Prepare technical and non-technical journal entries
- Maintain accurate data within the general ledger
- Assist with external and internal audit requests
- Analyze financial data and create reports for management to aid in strategic decision-making, specifically as it relates to legal entity results on a statutory basis.
- Research and convey to the Accounting and Finance teams technical accounting issues that are identified
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc request outside of the day-to-day operations
The candidate will possess a moderate degree of accounting and (re)insurance related knowledge and has foundational knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and Statutory Accounting Principles.
- Professional Experience
- Approximately 2-3 years of accounting or (re)insurance experience
- External or internal auditing experience a strong plus
- Working knowledge of financial reporting standards, such as International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP)
- Requisite Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Working knowledge of a major general ledger system preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the accounting team to meet strict timelines
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Certified Public Accountant designation (or equivalent), or actively studying towards a designation preferred
