General Laborer- Public Works/ Streets

All positions require that the applicant be a resident of Wyandotte county or willing to relocate within (12) months from the date of hire. As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer physical examination and drug screen. And submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

Job Description:

Operates dump truck, weed eater, chainsaw and other hand tools. Assists in the repair of roads and culverts. Assists in winter weather operations, sign repair and replacement. Responsible to place barricades and signs at designated locations. Assists in emergency storm operations and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or General Equivalency Degree (G.E.D) or, any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the duties of the job such as those listed above. Must have valid Driver's License and automobile insurance. CDL preferred at the time of application or must obtain within six months of date of hire. Knowledge of Kansas City, KS streets is preferred. Must have the ability to operate two-way radio, stand, sit or walk for extended periods of time. Ability to lift, carry, and drag objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to work with exposure to noise. Ability to analyze work conditions, recognize safety hazards and correctly respond. Ability to work independently, in teams, and carry out assignments through oral and written instructions.

Salary Range:

$20.79/hr.
