North Alabama Medical Center, opened its doors in 2018, as the replacement facility for Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, in Florence, Alabama. North Alabama Medical Center serves as a regional facility with more than 200 physicians on staff who represent more than 42 specialty areas of medicine.
Our Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Float Pool is a Per Diem (PRN) opportunity designed for actively enrolled nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience across a variety of hospital units. In this dynamic role, students support patient care while working alongside experienced healthcare professionals, building foundational skills and broad clinical exposure. This flexible position offers a collaborative environment that enhances learning, confidence, and career development in nursing.
How you'll contribute
A Patient Care Assistant (PCA) who excels in this role:
- Performs basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
- Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
- Maintains clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
- Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and overall department throughput.
- Documents care and activities per unit standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned; participates in performance improvement and required education.

What we're looking for
Applicants should have a High School Diploma (or equivalent). Additional requirements include:
- PCA/DCA , SRNA, or EMT Experience preferred but not required
