<p><strong>Title:</strong> French Localisation, QA Tester <br/><strong>Hours: </strong>Monday – Friday, Business Hours<br/><strong>Contract: </strong>6 months FTC (permanency dependant on performance)<br/><strong>Salary:</strong> €12,851 per annum + €6 daily meal vouchers<br/><strong>Role: </strong>Studio-Based<br/><strong>Location: </strong>Braga<br/><strong>Training: </strong>Fully paid</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Overview: </strong><br/></p><p>As a <strong>French</strong> <strong>Localisation, QA Tester</strong> , you will work within our Localisation Quality Assurance team and be the very first person to see the localised video game in its entirety – translated text, images and the rest of the user interface collectively. You’ll get to experience the project in the way it will be consumed by the end users. You will work in a multilingual project team as a <strong>French Localisation, QA Tester</strong>, ensuring that game is free from grammatical errors, cultural inconsistencies and ultimately ensuring that the game is accurately localised into the target language.</p><p>Candidates with a strong passion for games, languages, linguistics, translation, localisation, QA, LQA, or those wanting to gain entry into a fascinating and growing industry, are invited to apply! </p><p><strong>What you’ll be doing:</strong> </p><ul> <li>As a <strong>French Localisation, QA Tester</strong>:<ul> <li>Your main goal will be to proofread texts and video game content, checking the text for consistency and recommend changes when necessary.</li> <li>You will also ensure subtitles match audio tracks and participate in test requirement gathering to ensure Localisation QA effectively tests and supports all features of the project.</li> <li>Review translated text within games and correct any inaccuracies or errors to ensure best user experience and relevance of translation to local culture</li> <li>Report on all issues and bugs identified, and check fixes are implemented.</li> </ul>The typical language-related issues you'll be looking for are:<ul> <li>Grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes (verb conjugation, missing words or punctuation signs, repeated words, and phrases, etc.);</li> <li>Issues with numeric formats, financial symbols, calendars, dates (<em>DD/MM/YYYY in the UK vs MM/DD/YYY in the USA vs YYYY/MM/DD in Korea, China, Iran</em>);</li> <li>Incorrect metric and currency conversions, measurement units (<em>miles vs kilometers, pounds vs kilograms in the US/UK vs continental Europe</em>);</li> <li>Country-related errors (irrelevant zip codes, phone numbers, addresses, names);</li> <li>Broken language-specific characters (e.g., inappropriately displayed diacritics).</li> <li>Contextual inaccuracy, when words or sentences aren’t translated according to the actual context or literal translation of idioms;</li> <li>The natural flow of language - do the phrases sound like one would expect in day-to-day speech?</li> <li>Partial or inconsistent translations (one word is translated differently throughout the game, especially when it comes to the synonyms like <em>“submit”, “send”, “apply”</em>);</li> <li>Voice-over issues (the voice-over files are translated incorrectly or subtitles and audio are displayed at different times);</li> <li>Sensitive cultural references (cultural taboos, phrases or language that is considered offensive, etc.).</li> </ul> </li> </ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><ul> <li>Native-level Fluency in the language you are applying for, and English. </li> <li>Strong cultural understanding of the language you are applying for. </li> <li>Have a focus on quality and a keen eye for detail.</li> <li>Confident using computers - Excel, and working with multiple systems.</li> <li>Experience playing multiple gaming platforms preferred including Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, PC, etc. </li> <li>Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Good computer skills</li> <li>Ideally have previous experience working within Quality Assurance, Localisation, or LQA - with knowledge of Jira, TestRail, or similar. </li> <li>Familiarity playing MMORPG's is advantageous </li> </ul><p><strong>Studio Working Criteria: </strong></p><ul> <li>Candidates must live within 60 minutes of the studio in Braga.</li> <li>All candidates must travel into the studio daily for work.</li> </ul><p><strong>Other Information:</strong></p><p>We are also recruiting native-level German, Spanish (European), Spanish (Latin), Brazilian, Russian, and Italian Localisation, QA Testers.Please check our careers page and apply to the correct role.</p><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p><strong>What we offer:</strong></p><ul> <li>You will be working for the pre-eminent global provider of specialist services to the games industry and provided with full training and the opportunity to work on some of the biggest games titles in the world. </li> <li>Competitive remuneration, holidays, regular team competitions with great prizes; and inclusion into an ext
