Occ Summary

Assume responsib ilition, personal hygiene and basic health andsafety precautions applica bled.Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administ erile techniques and special procedures that areapplicable to work perfo rmengroutine and special treatments to patients.Working knowledge of san itaties for direct nursing care of assigned patientsunder the supervisio n of a registered nurse or physician in patient carearea. Provides nursi ngservices to patients and families in accordancewith the scope of the L PNas defined by the North Carolina Board ofNursing.

Work Per formed

Provide and document direct nursing care of assigned patie nts under thesupervision of a registered nurse or physician. Nursing car eis guidedby the physician orders and the nursing plan of care. Patientr esponseto care is reported to a registered nurse for evaluation, interve ntionand modification of the plan of care. Assist other health care pers onnelin the delivery of patient care.Assist physicians and other nursing personnel in the performance ofvarious diagnostic procedures.Evaluatenu rsing care with emphasis on nursing procedures and patientresponses; ass ist in the delivery of nursing care and selection ofnursing priorities.A ssist in the development and implementation of general policies andproce dures to provide for the emotional and physical comfort and safetyof pat ients; participate in the formulation of new policies.Participate in mai ntaining the environment of care including equipmentand other materialre sources.Participate in the identification of clinical or operationalperf ormanceimprovement opportunities and assists in performance improvementa ctivities.Assist with control ofmaterial resources and maintenance;assi st inappraisal of effectiveness of material and equipment and report any equipment malfunctions to charge nurse.Participate in in-service educati on programs and other conferenceswithin the service.Assist in the traini ng of new employees.Perform other related duties incidental to thework d escribed herein.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Know ledge of scope of licensed practical nurse, ability to delegate tonursin g support staff.Considerable knowledge of the care and treatment of pati ents and specialprocedures that apply to practical nursing. Able tnicate clearly with patients, families, visitors,healthcare team, physico inde pendently seekout resources and work collaboratively.Able to commuians, administrators, leadership and others.Able to teach patients and familie s in accordance with the nursing planof care.Able to use sensory and cog nitive functions to process and prioritizeinformation, treatment,and fol low-up.Competent in BLS and/or other specialized life support requiremen tsdesignated by work area or organization.Able to use fine motorskills.
