Basic Purpose Of The Job
Responsible for organizing, implementing and controlling the daily distribution of pharmaceuticals and IV admixtures to all patients of The Hospitals of Providence Network whether an inpatient or outpatient.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education: Enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy
Required Licenses/Certifications: Licensed as a Pharmacist Intern in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP)
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Proficiency in both verbal and written skills of the English language;
Not addicted to alcohol, drugs, or other substances of abuse;
Knowledgeable of Federal and State Laws governing the practice of Pharmacy.
Completion of ACPE Provider Accredited IV Training Course (40hr) in Sterile Compounding and Aseptic Technique for the preparation of sterile products, BAXA/Abacus TPN Compounding System, Lexi-Comp, Cerner System, Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinets, MILT Prepacking System (if applicable), available to work various shifts as needed, able to effectively interact with all levels of hospital employees.

If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.
Reviews and interprets orders for inpatients and outpatients to ensure the appropriateness of dosage and to determine the significance of potential drug-drug interaction. Prepares and dispenses appropriate amount of inpatients and outpatient medication. Conducts medication rounds and prepare IV additives using aseptic techniques. Monitor selected patient’s therapy with pharmacokinetic analysis of therapeutic drug levels to ensure effective therapy. Participate in educational programs and projects designed to improve the clinical and operational components of the department.
Education:Required: Actively enrolled in an accredited college/ school of Pharmacy and demonstrating progress to completing the program.
Experience:Preferred: Prior experience
Certifications:Required: Registered Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Intern license (both based on state requirements).
Physical Demands:Lift/position up to 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 50 lbs. of force. Frequent standing and walking. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending. Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the position
