About You and this Role
Dow has an exciting opportunity within Dow Freeport Marine Terminal Operations (FMTO) for a Senior Production Engineer (Run Plant Engineer), located in Freeport, Texas. The Freeport Marine Terminal is a critical facility for the integration of Texas Operations. This role will interface with multiple third parties including Vopak (VIIA), Olin, and MEGlobal in addition to other critical external business stakeholders.
As the Senior Production (Run Plant) Engineer, you will be a vital resource for the FMTO Team by applying technical skills to optimize plant processes, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient operations
The Run Plant Engineer serves as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient operations at the Terminal. This position requires conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within job discipline. You will use site logistics / logistics knowledge, technical expertise and operations experience to assist in correcting process or equipment issues which improve safety, process performance and reliability. The Run Plant Engineer performs routine assignments and solves standard problems using existing procedures and applies general knowledge developed through education or past experience to solve advanced issues, while closely working with the Team to deliver on the Terminal’s objectives.
This role is aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions (“Diamond Infra”) company and will be seconded from Dow to Diamond Infrastructure Solutions until January 1, 2027. At that time, the role will become directly aligned to the Diamond Infrastructure Solutions Company. *
Responsibilities
- Works closely with the operations team leveraging their problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
- Elevates and appropriately applies knowledge of the plant and technology referencing historical data and conferring with subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Ensures Most Effective Technology (MET) for the Terminal is understood and utilized and that process automation is used as a tool to optimize plant performance.
- Utilizes defined MET and challenges/escalates MET application and assumptions when better solutions arise.
- Partners with experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve and document operating discipline.
- Diagnoses and documents root causes of unplanned events at the facility.
- Understands why specific procedure steps and precautions are needed and keeps a strong field presence to reinforce the importance.
- Conducts daily review of logbook and alarm history to better understand the plant operation and stay engaged with daily activities.
- Maintains, owns, and reviews daily Key Process Indicators (KPI)/ trends to ensure optimum performance.
- Responds urgently to plant issues and emergencies.
- Acts as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drives implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Provides leadership, expertise, diagnosis, and optimization in operations and reliability.
- Ensures compliance with plant operating permits. Understands site integration and provides input to optimize the overall system.
- Performs appropriate Materials Flow roles as determined by Terminal
- Ensures implementation and ongoing effectiveness of global work processes, Operating Discipline, management systems, enabling technologies and roles.
- Coaches Site Logistics personnel and personally participates to meet Business and site goals.
- Establish strong working relationships with each functions / third parties, and optimize operations & promote continuous improvement
