Wells Fargo is seeking a Corporate Banking Associate to support CIB Banking’s Energy & Power Renewables & Asset Finance (“RAF”) team. The Renewables Portfolio Management team supports the portfolio management activities associated with a growing portfolio of loans (>$4B of commitments) with significant activity including refinancings, monitoring project finance deals, waivers, and amendments.

The Corporate Banking Associate will report to the Energy & Power Head of Portfolio Management.

Wells Fargo’s growing RAF business is an integral part of the Power, Utilities & Renewables (“PUR”) group within Energy & Power, providing financing, capital markets and advisory services to corporate clients. Our coverage universe includes renewable developers, independent power producers, infrastructure / private equity funds and utilities globally. The PUR group is a market-leading franchise in the sector, including top ranked positions in the equity and debt capital markets league tables.


In this role, you will:

  • Support the management of a portfolio of loans originated by the RAF team, including structured financing and corporate facilities, including performing financial and credit analysis

  • Perform monthly monitoring of construction financings for renewable assets (wind, solar, and energy storage), reviewing progress and monthly draws, working collaboratively with the Independent Engineer

  • Coordinate with operational teams for all day-to-day activity for the loans, including draws and issuances of Letter of Credit

  • Review and interpret credit policies and procedures and incorporate requirements into credit analysis, observations and monitoring

  • Perform all credit monitoring work including annual reviews, status updates and focus reviews for the assigned portfolio, accounting for all risk factors and providing risk rating recommendations with oversight from the Portfolio Manager; provide support for audits

  • Manage communication between Borrowers and the syndicate of lenders for transactions where we act as Administrative Agent, in collaboration with the Leveraged Finance team

  • Train and oversee analysts

  • Represent the bank in maintaining relationships with clients

  • Review credit agreements and contribute to the analysis and review of project documents including but not limited to Consultant Reports, Power Purchase Agreements, Operations & Maintenance reports

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, internal partners and stakeholders, including clients

  • Contribute to regular reporting to credit and senior management on the portfolio, in collaboration with more senior staff – including but not limited to maintenance of transaction databases and comps for the team


Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Corporate Banking Relationship Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Corporate Banking Program Analyst formal training with a Tier 1 bank

  • Strong financial modeling, credit, accounting and technical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstrated excellence in working effectively as an individual and as part of a team

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic, fast paced and complex environment

  • High level of initiative and accountability

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work with team members who are in different locations (mainly: Charlotte, Denver, Houston)

  • Ability to act with integrity, good character and exercise sound judgement


Job Expectations:

  • Registration FINRA Series 63 (or 66) must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
