The flagship SPAN Smart Panel is the first true evolution for the traditional home electric panel, harnessing enhanced technology for metering, monitoring, and control. The Role  

SPAN is looking for a passionate and strategic People Operations leader to enhance our HR and People Operations functions. In this role, you will drive collaboration with all levels of the SPAN team to design, implement and improve programs and processes that impact employee success and happiness. You will be highly independent and proactive in creating positive change in the employee experience that is aligned with our culture, and accommodates a diverse set of needs. To be successful you will bring a bias for empathy, a keen eye for strategic problem-solving, knowledge of U.S. employment policies and experience developing People infrastructure at a dynamic, growth-stage company. 

In this role, you will:

  • Support strategy and lead execution for People Operations functions including employee lifecycle management, HRIS systems and processes, employee relations, immigration, recognition, total rewards and compliance.

  • Implement and communicate programs and services to employees, provide guidance and support to executives, leadership and managers and manage People Team inquiries and actions to completion.

  • Lead the execution of our total rewards programs; identify and evaluate new opportunities to stay competitive and creative ways to retain and invest in employees

  • Support People leader in the development, implementation and ongoing process for career development and performance management programs.

  • Partner with adjacent People leads and Legal and Finance teams to develop and maintain compliant people-first policies and programs

  • Identify and implement improvements across our People systems, tools and workflows that result in increased efficiency and scaling, ensuring they are up-to-date and coordinate well together

  • Keep abreast of U.S. labor and regulatory laws in order to ensure compliance requirements are met and recommend areas for improvement

  • Be a resource for employees to give feedback, escalate issues and provide guidance and support to resolve interpersonal conflicts.

  • Provide coaching, mentorship and support to a growing team; develop metrics of success for your team and regularly communicate progress against them.

About You

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of HR or People Operations experience in a start-up or growth-stage company

  • Ability to work across multiple systems while maintaining confidentiality and discretion

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a successful record of streamlining systems and implementing processes at scale that support organizational objectives

  • Knowledge of human resources planning, compliance, personnel policies, compensation, benefits, and related labor laws (with support from Legal and our external PEO business partner)

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills – able to build relationships with internal and external partners inclusive of different backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, ages, religions, work locations, and viewpoints

  • Experience managing HR and People Operations in multiple worksite locations

  • Resourceful, adaptable, and able to work autonomously

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience implementing and/or managing employee training or learning and development programs

  • Experience implementing and/or managing performance review and management programs.

  • Experience improving and/or managing headcount and hiring planning processes

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $130,000 - $178,000 plus benefits, equity and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skil
