About the role
FlexStaff is seeking a Fraud Specialist for our client, a full-service banking institution, located in Bethpage, NY.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently review, examine, and resolve fraud and merchant dispute claims.
- Monitor member activity and use fraud detection tools to identify and act on potential fraud, escalating emerging trends.
- Contact members as needed to verify information and respond to escalations/complaints.
- Maintain accurate case management systems and monitor fraud tool performance.
- Provide essential support to branches, Contact Center representatives, and other internal fraud/risk teams.
- Participate in risk initiatives and identify potential risk exposures.
- Engage in ongoing training to stay ahead of fraud trends and mitigation strategies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
- 1-2 years comparable experience in fraud, loss mitigation, financial crime, risk management, or financial services.
- Solid understanding of banking practices, policies, and regulations.
- Meets requirements for obtaining Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and/or Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI) certifications.
- Strong risk analysis skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to analyze transaction monitoring rules.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across business units.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional presentation and demeanor.
- Proven ability to multitask with a high degree of accuracy.
- High level of self-direction and initiative.
