Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE
To develop the skills and knowledge of the beneficial use of electricity and understand how to effectively communicate and educate the membership on the efficient use of electrical appliances and HVAC systems. Receive instruction how to install and maintain the demand response program. Complete program of progressive training to become Energy Auditor certified through BPI (Building Performance Institute) and serve as Carroll White REMC Energy Advisor II.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform in a satisfactory manner the functions listed below. The company will make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.
Reports ready for work each day at the appointed time; if unable to do so, notify the Energy Solutions Coordinator or the Communications and Public Relations Manager prior to regular reporting time.
First Year/Step 1: Under the supervision of the Energy Solutions Coordinator;
- Learns about the demand response program and the importance of how this program helps the members, the Cooperative, and the electrical grid. Trains on proper and safe installation of demand response switch (DRU).
- Works in the deployment of the demand response program, installs new devices, and troubleshoots devices installed on water heaters and HVAC equipment.
- Trains to gain knowledge and techniques on how to effectively assist members with questions and concerns regarding electric heating and air conditioning and home appliances.
- Assist on site visits at homes with high-usage complaints or need of energy usage saving advice, and conducts walk-through energy audits, learning to use auditing software, as appropriate. Follows up with communication and literature, as appropriate.
- Complete courses to learn building science principles and how it applies to existing, retro, and new construction buildings.
- Embraces the REMC policy of Development, Performance and Recognition (DPR).
- Continually seeks to enhance skills to align with the ever-changing technology, goals, and opportunities of the REMC.
- Expects that management will routinely provide feedback on performance
