Role Description:
ShipBob is looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer who is comfortable with designing, deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft infrastructure. This includes experience with all areas in Azure DevOps including project management, build and release pipelines. This approach includes:
- Enabling development teams to deploy new infrastructure in accordance with security and quality standards.
- Developing tooling and automation to address short- and long-term issues and organizational needs.
- Championing the system's reliability and ensuring it is redundant and resilient from all possible interruptions.
As a Staff DevOps Engineer, you are both the builder and the planner of infrastructure within DevOps. You are expected to ensure all solutions follow all security and infrastructure standards and all actions are communicated with stakeholders. Your goal is to make the ShipBob environment cleaner, more secure and more reliable with every project you work on.
What you’ll do:
- Collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to understand new business needs and conceptualizing those needs into features via Critical Design Reviews.
- Recommending solutions to bottlenecks in the development process and implementing solutions to address them.
- Mentoring, pairing, participating in code reviews, and delegating work to encourage the professional and technical growth of those around you.
- Coordinating with engineering and product leadership to define and prioritize projects that help us meet business objectives.
- Investigating how your features are performing in production to learn and make the product better.
- Managing security standards in all our applications and application planning.
- Deploying and managing infrastructure via infrastructure as code.
- Triaging and debugging technical support requests.
- Resolving any issues with Engineering infrastructure while also pushing coding standards and cleaner implementations.
- Supporting teams during deployments to ensure pipeline success.
- Other duties/responsibilities as necessary.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- More than six years of experience in a DevOps Engineer role (or similar); experience in software development and infrastructure development is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience with managing Azure multi-region cloud services.
- Experience with enterprise-grade multi-region network design.
- Experience with Terraform.
- Experience with Kubernetes systems.
- Experience with CI/CD principles and deployment strategies in Azure DevOps using YAML pipelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments in the organization.
- Demonstrated experience with Azure PaaS and implementation troubleshooting.
- Established experience with planning and implementing large scalable solutions.
- Understanding of enterprise-level security and compliance standards.
