Associate Manager, Research Program Management, Regeneron Genetics Medicines

We are looking for an Associate Manager to join the Regeneron Genetic Medicines - Program Management team to provide operational guidance and drive key deliverables for cross-functional teams focused on hearing-loss therapeutics, and viral gene therapy technology, process, and assay development. This individual will merge their scientific expertise in auditory biology and gene therapy with program management and pharmaceutical development experience to support the coordination, execution, and communication of critical cross-functional activities required to drive our genetic medicines portfolio. The program manager will coordinate and manage internal and external cross-functional teams & programs, nurture relationships with teams and key stakeholders, deliver results and communicate key milestones.
In this role, a typical day may include:
Project, Program, Portfolio Management
- Independently executes & tracks management of projects and tasks with some guidance and awareness of internal and external interdependencies.
- Identify and work to champion resolution of critical gaps, risks, or issues for assigned programs, projects, and tasks.
- Promotes a collaborative scientific information exchange by leading and updating tracking tools and program content.
Communication and Team Management
- Builds cross-functional teams and leads program deliverables in a matrix organization.
- Primary point of contact for management regarding progress of project / program goals, ensures effective, accurate and timely communication across functional areas.
- Distills pertinent elements from sophisticated information, and tailors communications for the audience.
- Corresponds with internal and external stakeholders & teams to develop & execute research plans, to address challenges, and to communicate progress.
- Contributes to cross functional decision-making through development and implementation of communication systems and tools.
Discovery and Technology Discovery & Development
- Identifies and understands key data/information required to drive decision & next steps through discovery and drug development process.
- Can provide guidance and/or scientific/technical mentorship to project teams and/or other fellow team members for their assigned programs
Process Management and Improvement
- Independently analyzes and identifies areas of minimal complexity for process improvement and contributes to process improvement initiatives.
- Creates new processes with guidance, leads the development and gains alignment on process improvement solutions, informed by knowledge of technical/scientific challenges faced by the project teams.
System and Tools Management
- Acquires technical expertise in and manages existing systems and tools related to supporting tasks, projects, and programs relevant to research programs
- Gains alignment and can help to lead the development and implementation of new systems and tools to support new or existing initiative.
This role may be for you if you:
- Effectively work with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization to support research operations.
- Have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members & stakeholders with tact and diplomacy
- Proactively identify potential issues and implement mitigation strategies for general problem-solving within the department.
- Work independently with limited guidance, but with general oversight from a supervisor.
To be considered for this role, you should have a BS/MS degree in a related field and typically requires 7+ years relevant experience or a PhD in a related field and relevant working experience (up to 5 years), preferably with immunology, virology or gene therapy experience. We are looking for someone with basic knowledge of project management techniques and concepts as they apply to the drug development / pharmaceutical industry. You should be able to handle multiple projects and priorities with excellent time management skills. Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc. required.
